YouTube, another password to remember, but I enjoyed the experience. My all time classic, after 27 years, the ‘Thriller’ video, still makes me want to get up and dance. No matter what people say about Michael Jackson, he is still “The King of Pop”. Audio was good, but I found the picture a bit “grainy” and “dark”. I tried other videos and saw the same thing. In YouTube you can also see what other videos are being viewed. I think YouTube would be a great tool for instructional purposes. It was amazing to see how inmates in Cebu (Philippines) use this video as “therapy”.

This week was podcasting. Thank goodness I didn’t have to create another account. Had problems downloading the software, but Simon added the right touch and I was able to continue with the assignment. Now I know why my computer at home was flooded with songs. I think at one time it was free, but now I notice you have to pay to download. The audio books, reminds me of the “talking books” that are in some public libraries. I like the concept. People who are blind and can’t read this is an excellent option, also I have seen people use the “talking books” or “audio books” to learn “english”. They take the print copy as well and follow along. I truly enjoyed this assignment, I think this is something the library could invest in.

Cooliris is great for pictures, doing scrapbooks and collages. This is what I spent most of the week looking at. IE was problematic, so I had to do most of my experimenting with Firefox. Spring is in the air so I decided to get “in shape” with gardening and health. Stumbleupon will keep me up-to-date with its current information

This time it is FaceBook we are having fun with. Oh Boy!!! Another “password to remember”. I don’t know if I can keep up with FaceBook. It is a bit too much socializing, and too much information. Although you can limit the amount of information, I can see why it can become “addictive”. I don’t particularly like FaceBook, not just because of the negativity I have heard, but anyone can “disguise themselves to be somebody else”. I think I would cross this one off my list.

Oh my goodness!!! I can’t believe it is March already. This week we are looking at Google Docs. and Google Maps. Google Docs is a good idea to share your documents instead of sending an “attachment” every time you send an email. It saves time and it is convenient. Google maps is something I always use, when I am not sure where I am going. It could be in town or out-of-town. For my Google Doc I found a list we used in Interlibrary Loans on the Lending side to keep track of electronic journals.

I enjoyed that LibraryThing, it is a good tool for keeping track of the books you have read. You can also rate them and find out what other people are reading. This is a good and quick resource for book reviews. Here is my link to my Library Thing

Delicious was fun to explore. Thanks to my co-worker DLL, I was able to finally figure out what I was doing. I think this is a valuable tool to keep your websites organized and in order. Here are my favorite delicious links:
